Amphipods are tiny shrimp like cleaners in your reef tank and refugium. You can tell them apart from copods because you will be able to see the amphipods and most likely not the copods. Both make excellent food source for picky eaters like seahorses and gobies. They will not overpopulate your tank only grow as many babies as leftover food and detrimus can sustain. They are great at scavaging detrimus and leftover food and will even eat diatoms and cyanobacteria. This mixture contains both copods amphipods. The bag will also contain some of the macroalgae from the pod growout tanks. The algae where the pods breed and has a high concentration of young babies in it. We feed all the corals in our greenhouse coral farm with home grown pods, phyto, and rotifers. No weird wild stuff in our systems. Thats asking for trouble! The water in our systems starts with deionized lab grade water and we use high quality sea salts. There is absolutely no way to get a totally accurate count on every order with the pods. Based on previous density counts we can estimate the count on 16 oz to be well over 500. This will contain twice the amount! More than enough to get your reef tank going.
